RTS #057 Taxes and Patriotism!

As you are probably very aware by now, we are all about NOT tipping the IRS. We say a few different ways, but it all comes back to a quote from Judge Learned Hand:

“There is not even a patriotic duty to increase one’s taxes. Over and over again the Courts have said that there is nothing sinister in so arranging affairs as to keep taxes as low as possible. Everyone does it, rich and poor alike, and all do right, for nobody owes any public duty to pay more than the law demands.”

We hope you had a fun, safe 4th of July celebrating the independence of our great country. Don’t ever mistake proactive tax planning with a lack of support for this great country. We have to remember that it’s all about paying what you owe but not leaving a tip (don’t forget about the paying what you owe part).

We are so excited for the rest of the summer and, of course, the RTS Summit in the fall, but we’ll take at least one week this year to remember there are more important things in life than taxes.

Have a great weekend!
