You Don’t Have to Figure It Out Alone

There’s something I’m reminded of every time we get a group of advisors together.

You don’t realize how valuable it is to be around people who are doing the same work you are until you actually get in the room with them.

Most advisors spend a lot of time working on their own.

You’re meeting with clients, working through tax questions, building plans, answering emails, managing the business, and trying to keep up with everything that changes from year to year. And because of that, it’s easy to get stuck in your own way of doing things.

That’s one of the reasons I believe being around other advisors matters so much.

At our 2026 Summit last week, I watched advisors compare notes, share ideas, talk through challenges, and learn from what other people are doing in their practices. Sometimes the biggest takeaway isn’t a new tax strategy or a new process. It’s hearing another advisor say:

“We had the same problem.”

Or:

“Here’s what worked for us.”

Or even:

“I never thought about doing it that way.”

That kind of conversation can save you months of trying to figure something out on your own. And I think that’s one of the things that makes a community valuable.

You don’t have to do everything the way someone else does it. In fact, you shouldn’t.

But being around peers gives you the opportunity to see what’s possible, challenge your own assumptions, and bring new ideas back into your practice.

That was one of my favorite parts of Summit 2026.

And if you weren’t able to join us this year, we’re already looking ahead.

The 2027 Summit will be focused on Building a 10-Year Tax Plan With Your Clients.

We’ll be bringing advisors together again to work through the strategies, processes, and conversations that can help turn tax planning into something you actually do with clients – not just something you talk about.
